Связь между дефицитом йода и зобом привела к новаторским усилиям по решению этой проблемы. В статье рассматривается история изучения эндемии зоба на Урале, приводятся результаты большой комплексной работы зобных экспедиций 1929–1934 гг., благодаря которой были получены многочисленные данные, послужившие основой для организации лечебных и массовых профилактических противозобных мероприятий в местах эндемического распространения зоба.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Historically, regions with low levels of iodine in soil and water have been associated with a higher prevalence of goiter. The link between iodine deficiency and goiter has led to innovative efforts to address this problem.
