RTH впервые был описан в 1967 году как часть семейного синдрома, включающего глухонемоту, зоб и аномально повышенный уровень тиреоидных гор монов на фоне нормальной концентрации ТТГ в сы воротке крови [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit1">1</xref>]. В настоящее время в литературе описано более 500 случаев RTH. Распространен ность этого синдрома составляет 1 : 40 000 – 1 : 50 000 новорожденных, и он встречается с одинаковой час тотой у лиц обоего пола [2, 3]. Тип наследования в большинстве семей аутосомнодоминантный. Ре цессивный тип наследования на сегодняшний день был установлен только в одной семье [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit3">3</xref>]. Идентифи цированы два гена, кодирующих рецепторы щито видной железы TRαиTRβ, которые расположены на 17й и 3й хромосомах. Рецепторы имеют три основ ные изоформы: TRα1 (преимущественная экспрес сия: ЦНС, миокард, скелетные мышцы), TRβ1 (пе чень, почки) и TRβ2 (гипофиз и гипоталамус). При RTH наиболее часто выявляются гетерозигот ные мутации TRβ.
